Rainbows

Rainbows Wheel

Rainbows is a pre-Brownie organisation, open to girls of five and over. The meetings are full of games and activities which provide challenging opportunities for Rainbows to think for themselves and take an active part in unit decision making.

Everything a Rainbow does helps her to develop – it is an opportunity to look, learn, laugh and love.

Sherwood Greenlaw Rainbows meet on a Thursday evening in the church hall.

Further information can be obtained from Mrs Marjory Crae, via the Church office.

The Rainbow Promise

Rainbows make this simple promise that they share with members around the world:

I promise that I will do my best to love my God and to be kind and helpful.

RAINBOW NEWS

It has been a busy few months for the Rainbows. We welcomed 13 new recruits to our unit in September all of whom have made their promise.

We have had a variety of games nights, craft evenings and in particular enjoyed making the poppies for the Remembrance Day service which several of the girls attended. We are now on the countdown to Christmas and are looking forward to decorating our tree as part of the Christmas display within the church.

As you may have seen in the press over the summer GirlGuiding has introduced a new programme for all sections. There are six themes which run through the entire programme for every age group bringing consistency and continuity to each girl’s guiding journey. Rainbows in particular will benefit from this as they are now able to earn 'Skill Builders' badges within the unit and 'Interest' badges which they can complete at home. The girls are currently working on the Being Well Skill Builders badge which covers basic first aid skills.

With the large number of new recruits, the unit is currently full. If anyone wishes their daughter to join us please register her on the parents' section of the Girlguiding UK web site and we will try and accommodate her as soon as possible. (Our unit is 3rd East Paisley)

We would like to thank the congregation for their continued support of the unit and wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year when it comes. Please feel free to come along one evening to see a little bit of what we get up to or to share your talents with us.

Date for your diary: Our annual coffee morning will be held on the 2th February 2019. Tickets will be available nearer the time.
